My first contact with BIRTHFIT was when my dear friend and BIRTHFIT Dallas Regional Director, Jamie, recommended I check it out. I browsed through the website and looked through the photos on social media of pregnant and postpartum women working out. I was impressed. They were strong, capable, and intentional in their movement.
I was intimidated. I didn’t have a fitness background. I wasn’t even pregnant, and I couldn’t accomplish what they were doing. I scrolled through Instagram and went on with my life.
Then, a few weeks later my first baby was born.
I wanted to move. I wanted to feel strong. And I had no idea where to start. Fortunately, Jamie reached out again and suggested I start with the BIRTHFIT Postpartum Program. I nervously started Training Day 1. The programming addressed mobility, strength, conditioning, and accessory work. And it felt good. It felt good to be moving. It felt good to know I was rebuilding my body after birth. And It felt good to accomplish something.
I found that though the program increased in intensity, it became easier to continue each day because of the momentum that was built from previous days. And that momentum didn’t just affect fitness; it created a cascade of accomplishments. Working out led to showering (most days), which made me feel refreshed and ready to take on whatever the day had in store.
Whether you are postpartum, pregnant, or even in the preconception stage of the Motherhood Transition, there’s no better time to start than today. BIRTHFIT has Regional Directors across the U.S., online programming, and a tribe of women ready to happily welcome you into our sisterhood. Don’t wait until Monday. Don’t wait until the stars align. Don’t wait until you run out of excuses or fears.
Just start.
