Kippy’s Ice Cream Shop

Kippy’s Ice Cream Shop may just be the next best thing to heaven. This little gem of a shop popped up down the street from DEUCE Gym and Whole Foods Market Venice this last year.
Kippy and Max are behind Truly Raw Gourmet Sorbet. The non-dairy, organic sorbets have been sold in Southern California for some time now. You can find them at Whole Foods and other natural markets.
Kippy and Max finally opened a shop in Venice, CA. Kippy’s is non-dairy and always organic. Kippy’s cracks and shreds over 600 organic coconuts a week to make the ice creams and sorbets. Raw local honey is used to sweeten the creams and sorbets. They crack, shred, and make all the ice creams fresh in their shop on Lincoln Blvd.
That’s right. The only ingredients are coconut water, coconut cream, fresh fruit, and raw local honey.
Now, if you know me, then you know that I do not consume dairy. I gave up (Blue Bell) ice cream almost ten years ago. I’m conscious of what I eat because it not only affects my performance but also my overall health. I eat quality meats, fruits, veggies, and fats.
Coconut cream is high in raw saturated fat, which is essential for overall health. Coconut is actually a great source of medium-chain triglycerides, which is quickly absorbed as energy in the body. Coconut also induces satiety and provides a great source of energy for workouts or long days.

Basically, I want you to realize that there are healthy (or healthier) options out there for desserts and really anything. Be aware of what you are putting into your body, especially when you are pregnant. We post a lot of studies and information on the BirthFIT Facebook page about nutrition. Nutrition is even one of BirthFIT’s four pillars.
Nutrition is the foundation to health.
- Make conscious food choices.
- Establish a relationship with food.
- Enjoy what you eat.
- If you eat something not so great, move on.
