There Risks & Benefits to an Epidural

A while back I wrote about epidurals in which you can the read the blog here. Just yesterday I came across this fantastic article that was written in 2010 in regards to epidurals. As with anything, there are risks and benefits. Obviously, the benefit of the epidural is to number the area to provide pain relief. However, a significant risk is that the epidural can alter the flow of labor by interfering with major hormones. The epidural also numbs the pelvic floor, which is physically important for guiding and pushing the baby out.

Pick a pace that is your own. Take breaks when needed. Remember you are preparing for something twice as big as this 5k. If you have to walk for an hour, but dedicate at least one hour to preparation for birth.
